Helen is back!

This week at PaperArtsy, Helen Chilton is back, with some amazing techniques and wall hangings.
So following Helen's idea, I took my door hanging from last week, flipped it over and decorated the other side. Now I can change it around for a different feel.
I've gone a lot simpler in my overall feel, less is more (I hope!)

The background is Nougat and Ice Blue Fresco Finish Paints.
The flowers are from Hot Pick 1009, and stamped onto Crackly Tissue Paper.
I then painted them with watered down Ice Blue and Pea Coat.
The Crunchy Paper was embossed, and I added some Nougat to highlight the pattern.
The words are from Petal Plate 3, and stamped in Sepia on cream card.
Finally the flower is the same as yesterday, 3 layers : card, crunchy paper and Crackly Tissue, painted with Nougat, Irish Cream and Chocolate pudding, with the word script on the middle layer stamped in Claret.

PaperArtsy challenge, Michelle is back!

Michelle Webb is back as guest designer, and is really wowing us all! Her work is so amazing, with so much technique and many interesting layers.

 I decided to try my hand at a door hanging thingy. It had already been decorated (many years ago), and so I just painted  a layer of Snowflake Fresco Finish paint over the top to get back to a blank canvas.
I added the flowers from the  Mini Daisy Cluster stencil, using Gesso. This makes a much subtler raised surface than Ferro.
Then I painted the background using blues and purples (Ice Blue, Sky, Baltic Blue, Moonlight, Lilac, Pansy, Eggplant)
Next I highlighted the flowers with Inka Gold (violet and platinum)
I took the PaperArtsy Die - Grunge Flower #1, and made 3 flowers from it. The bottom one on white card, which I painted with Eggplant and streaks of Ice Blue, then covered it with Metallic Glaze and curled the petals under.
The middle layer is made from Crunchy Paper, painted with Pansy, scrunched it, then stamped script over it. The final one was on Crackly paper, which I painted with Moonlight and a little metallic glaze, and scrunched it up in the middle to make it smaller. In the middle is an old button from my stash.
Back on the wood, I did some background stamping (with snowflake paint), and stenciled some diamonds with Mini Harlequin in the purples.
Finally I stamped the words from Hot Pick 1009 on Crackly paper, and added them using Satin Glaze.
I seem to have a problem with the Satin Glaze though - I stamp using Versafine, but never seems to dry! This one was left for 24 hours, and was still wet when I added it (hence a few thumb prints in the background...)
Anyway, I attached the flower with a glue gun, and was finished.
I really enjoyed making that!

PaperArtsy Challenge - Linda Cain (2)

I'm getting another card done this week! I chose the second of Linda Cain's projects to work from (see here) - a Valentines card
I was a bit heavy handed with the Claret and Baltic Blue, and no amount of Nougat seemed to make any better.
I think my background is more "Chainsaw massacre" and less Valentines... 
Still, Dave likes it (and as he's probably getting the card, that's okay).
I stamped the house from Squiggly Ink Bricks & Mortar 1 onto white card,  then painted it with Claret and Baltic Blue (using a black marker pen to redraw the bricks on the roof), and cut out the square in the middle, so you can see my background through it.
I also stamped the heart from Squiggly Ink Love & Kisses 1, painted it and cut it out. The words are from the same set (Love you more stamp), I just masked out the words and stamped what I wanted.
The hearts down the sides are a stamp in my collection (not sure who by), that I stamped with a bit of nougat paint.

I'm a bit behind this week, uber-talented Linda Cain has posted 3 wonderful creations already, and I am still on number 1...
I must say, I am loving creating the paint backgrounds with Fresco Finish paints - they are so much fun to work with.
Linda's idea of spritzing with water to apply in a more washed out way was great - I will be using that a lot more. I also used the same colours as she did, as they are not colours I would normally put together. It worked so well!
My background stamps arrived from Leandra today (great timing) - Ink & the Dig Mini's 22 and 44
I went for a steampunk theme again, using the same sheet as last week, Hot Pick 1110.

PaperArtsy Challenge Week 2

Over at PaperArtsy they have some amazing Guest Designers showing ideas and techniques. Anyone joining in has a chance of winning some (gorgeous) PaperArtsy stamps.
I didn't get around to it last week, but I am right here ready for this!
Guest Designer Helen Chilton has been creating some fab projects using Portfolio Water Soluble Oil Pastels. I have a set already (phew) and they are such great fun to work with.
So here is my card: the background is the Pastels (smudged with a finger), then the "sun rays" are created with the Mini Harlequin stencil and Fresco Acrylic Paints (which I am so in love with), Claret and Haystack, using the "bump" technique (see Leandra's video here).
Some background stamping with Distress and Adirondack inks, and the main stamps are from Hot Pick 1110.
