ArtsyCrafts 2012 - Fabric Book

This was a very unusual one - me sewing? Luckily it was "messy" sewing!
We made each page on separate squares of backing fabric, and then I eventually put them together this week.
The book opens in an unusual way, as I show and try to explain below. Then I took close up photos of each page.

So first up is the front page

Flip the front page to the left to reveal the next 2 pages

Next, flip the right hand page down

Flip the bottom page to the right to finish opening the book

Finally the back page

Here are close ups of each page (except the front and back)

ArtsyCrafts 2012 - Rusty Relic

Sadly it was the last ever ArtsyCrafts weekend, but a BIG thank you to Lin and Leandra for all their fantastic hard work making these weekends so special for us.
This was the Sunday class, and as the name suggests, it was a rusty (and painty/glu-ey/messy) day!
A lot of fun as always.

Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 Class : Day 10

Wow - final day already! It's been so great, I've loved all the things I have learned and tried. This course was well worth it. The great thing is, the course will be available to me for life, so any time I want to go back and recap a technique, I just logon. Brilliant!
That said, here is my final technique - a lovely vintage background with sparkles over it that don't seem to have come out in the picture. I have not finished the card yet, but here is the technique

Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 Class : Day 9

Whew, nearly there - just one more day to go. For Day 9 we played with Perfect Pearls, and sadly I couldn't get the photo to show the amazing pearl sheen over the cards/stamping. Trust me, it's there! Once again I haven't completed the cards, just done the techniques.
  • Perfect Distress Mist Technique
  • Perfect Distress Technique
  • Perfect Splatter Distress Technique

Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 Class : Day 8

I'm falling behind again... so for Day 8 I have done the techniques, but not finished the cards yet.
  • Paint Dabber Resist Technique
  • Crackle Paint Resist Technique
  • Shattered Stains Technique

I didn't think the shattered stain technique of the snowman showed up as well in the above picture, so I zoomed inon the snowman on his own. I love the effect! He is a die cut on Grungepaper.

Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 Class : Day 7

Gosh, my craft room has never seen such activety over such a short space of time!

Yes, I know I have missed Day 6 out, but it was all about the new product Distress Markers, and as I don't have any (yet...) I can't do the homework. I did watch the whole lesson though, I promise!
So onto Day 7 (I've nearly caught up, as today is Day 8!)

I loved all 3 techniques in the world of embossing, and had great fun with them.
As always, the first picture is the 3 techniques, the second picture is where I have created a card with each of them.
I have not yet made a card with the clock (and sadly the technique does not show up on my photo - but it looks great IRL). I have just run out of ideas for today!

The English stamps are Indigo Blue (and a big favourite at the moment)
The butterflies are Australian : Stamp-It (which I bought in the Netherlands at Art Journey)
  • Nostalgic Batik Technique
  • Rusted Enamel Technique
  • Distress Powder Resist Technique

Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 Class : Day 5

Another day of Tim Holtz heaven! I have finished Day 5 and below are my 3 techniques. The first photo is the technique, then the second picture is the finished cards (not much difference this time, just matting and mounting).
I can't believe I am making so many cards - almost 3 a day! I am loving it though, it's such a great course (Thank you Tim!)
My stamps are a mix of Art Jounrney, PaperArtsy, Crafty Individuals and of course some of Tim's own stamps!
  • Stained Kraft Resist Technique
  • Stamping with Stains Technique
  • Marbled Stains Technique

Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 Class : Day 4 (1)

Another day of Tim Holtz class done, and great fun. This photo is the technique, but I haven't decided how to make them into cards yet.

Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 Class : Day 3

I am catching up fast! I have now completed Day 3 of the class, but can't do the other 2 techniques as I don't have the equipment. Never mind, here are 2 cards using the first technique.
  • Alcohol Ink Agates Technique

Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 Class : Day 2

I have joined the Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 online class (a few days late, but I should catch up). So this is my "homework" for Day 2
The first pictures are the 3 techniques I learnt (unfinished)
  • Blended Spritz & Flick Technique
  • Brushless Watercolor Technique
  • Wrinkle-Free Distress Technique

Here they are again, now completed as cards

Winter Wonderland - A Christmas Card

Time to do some challenges again! Winter Wonderland is doing a simple introduction to this year's Christmas challenges - the theme is just A Christmas Card. Any style, any colour.
I have done a Tim Holtz type card, using his new Christmas stamp and his dies in black as a contrast.

Winter blues...

This was great fun! I followed Leandra's (PaperArtsy) technique for the Portfolio Water Soluble Oil Pastels.
I decided to put Umbrella Man (Tim Holtz stamp) in a cold rainy day. The pastels are brilliant to work with. Thanks for the technique (and the pastels) Leandra!
